Not sure which type of support you need?
Here’s a helpful breakdown of how performance consulting differs from mental health counseling — so you can confidently choose the right path forward.
FAQs
-
Counseling is focused on mental health — processing emotions, healing, and supporting things like anxiety, depression, or life stressors. Performance consulting is designed for individuals who are already functioning well, but want to sharpen their mental skills — such as confidence, focus, and handling pressure — to reach a higher level in their sport or performance.
-
If you're looking to improve confidence, consistency, focus, or your ability to perform under pressure — and you’re not currently needing support with mental health struggles — performance consulting is likely the right fit. If you’re navigating emotional distress, trauma, or daily-life challenges, counseling may be a better starting point.
-
Yes — absolutely. Performance consulting is a great complement to counseling. Counseling focuses on emotional wellness and healing, while coaching helps you strengthen mental skills and optimize performance. Many of my clients actively do both.
-
No — I do not diagnose or provide mental health counseling through this service. Although I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC), my work here is strictly as a Mental Performance Consultant, focused on mindset, confidence, and performance skills. If mental health support is needed, I will gladly provide a referral to a licensed therapist.
-
Performance consulting is not considered medical or mental health treatment, so it is not covered by insurance. All sessions are self-pay. However, clients appreciate the flexibility, customization, and high-performance focus that consulting provides — without requiring a diagnosis.
-
Yes — parents are welcome to book on behalf of their child or teen. I work with athletes and performers of all ages. For youth clients, I keep communication professional and age-appropriate, while ensuring clarity around goals and expectations from both the parent and the athlete.
